Disney’s E3 Conference Makes Kennedy Look Legit

Posted in Editorial, Game News by Dave on the July 25th, 2007

Thanks (or curses) to Joystiq for putting up the GameTrailers video of the Disney press conference at E3 that makes Jamie Kennedy’s Activision fiasco look like the funniest thing of the year.  The following video actually hurts and may cause convulsions.  I seriously would have walked out of this if I had to actually sit through it.  Disney owes the members of the press at this monstrosity an all-expenses paid trip to a Disney park for enduring this garbage.

Heavenly Sword Trilogy

Posted in Playstation 3 News, Game News by Mo on the July 24th, 2007

This makes me happy.  AMN had the chance to conduct an interview with Tam Antoniades of Ninja Theory.  During the interview, he stated that Heavenly Sword is planned as a trilogy.  Apparently, part two is already written and has been for a while now.  You can hear the entire interview at PS3 Advance Media Network.

The VC (Virtual Console for Wii) gets some goodies.

Posted in Nintendo Wii News by Mo on the July 24th, 2007

For all of those Old School RPG fans (Mike) and especially those fans of Shining Force (once again, Mike), this is for you.  I guess it would also help if you owned a Wii, something I might want to mention, but now available for the VC for the Wii is Shining Force, Kirby’s Dream Course, and Devil’s Crush.  Both Shining Force and Kirby will be 800 points and Devil’s Crush will be 600 and these games were released Monday, July 23rd.  You can view the entire list of VC games here.

Heavenly Sword Demo on PSN

Posted in Playstation 3 News by Mo on the July 23rd, 2007

So I heard about this previously, but now it has been confirmed by a Developer from Ninja Theory on their forumsThursday, the Heavenly Sword demo drops for the PS3.  It has been only officially been confirmed for Europe this Thursday, but Sony says the other regions will drop around the same time as Europe.  Or you can always just set up a foreign PSN account if you can’t wait.  I don’t know about the rest of you, but Heavenly Sword is the reason I purchased my PS3, so I am very excited about this.  The game is currently slated to release in September, adding another great exclusive to the PS3 (because they definitely need some right now).

Wanna Play Some Baseball?

Posted in Game Reviews by Mike on the July 23rd, 2007

Baseball season has passed the halfway point and pennant races are heating up. For all us baseball fans this is an exciting time. It makes me want to play some baseball video games. But which one should I play? If this sounds like you, I am here to help. No need to thank me (you can if you want but it’s not required) but I will give you a few pointers on choosing a game.

 MLB 2k7 - PS2, XBox, XBox 360,Ps3

This one doesn’t have any real stand out features. That being said, it may just be the best all around choice for most sports gamers. It doesn’t try to do anything revolutionary except just be a solid game. There isn’t a horrible learning curve which makes it a great game to just pick up and start playing.

The Bigs - PS2, PS3, XBox 360, PSP, WII

This game is mainly for non-baseball fans. If you want real baseball, this is not for you.

 MLB 07 The Show - PS2, PS3, PSP

By far, the most in depth baseball game there is. I love this game. What really sets it apart is the career mode. The most realisitic ever created. You create your player and begin your career in working your way up through the minors. You have to perform to get promoted and to get playing time. I highly recommend this one. However, it is a Sony exclusive so it is not as widely played.

Jamie Kennedy Dying Like Pee-Wee in Buffy at E3

Posted in Editorial by Dave on the July 19th, 2007

Sometimes, I’m just glad that we’re the new kids on the block because I don’t know what I would have done if I was actually at this event.  I really liked Jamie Kennedy in Scream, but he’s gone downhill in my opinion and this was just downright pathetic.  I hope the news comes out that he was just stinking drunk at this thing because if this is him sober?  Wow…All I know is that Activision should be getting a refund for how bad this went.  Thanks to GameTrailers.com for putting up this jewel.  Now, if only we could get something from the supposedly suicidal Disney conference, I’d feel like I had been there.

Marathon Durandal on XBLA Details

Posted in XBox 360 News by Dave on the July 18th, 2007

Ok, so I just finished ripping Bungie a new one for coming out with what I would consider to be an inferior product.  THIS, however, this makes me one happy boy.  As stated previously, I am a Bungie fan from WAY back in the day.  The fact that Durandal is coming out on the XBox Live Arcade excites me in ways I’m not entirely comfortable sharing.  This is arguably the best of the Marathon series and I remember playing deathmatch of AppleTalk (a Mac version of networking) and have an absolute blast.  If you look at this game and compare it to Doom, well…there just is no comparison.

Bungie had the audacity to take the formula of a shooter and not only put in interactive water elements, they even had to dealing with an insane computer program and give you an actual storyline.  This game is genius and really shows why Bungie was put on the map.  I’ll be picking this one up for sure, especially at a measly $10 price point.

Halo 3 Without Online Co-Op?

Posted in XBox 360 News, Editorial by Dave on the July 18th, 2007

In this day and age of gaming, the hardcore gamer really puts up a stink if a game doesn’t have online co-op and the storyline allows for it.  Personally?  I think it’s fair to expect.  On the 360, you can play Gears of War, Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Vegas online in a co-op capacity with one or more of your friends.  So why should Halo 3 be any different?

Show Us Your Madden

Posted in Playstation 3 News, XBox 360 News, Editorial, Game News by Mo on the July 17th, 2007

So, we all know Madden 08 is just around corner due out August 14th and of course it is going to be huge, but this year, EA has taken it to a whole new level. (For PS3 and 360 that is).  There is a special unlock able “Ring of a Champion” which you can order and wear proudly.  The ring is courtesy of Jostens (who has made 27 out of the 41 Super Bowl Championship rings and probably your graduation ring also) and will come in two (initial) prices based upon chepo or non-precious for $149 and a 10K ring for $495.  Now if you have really lost your mind and have some extra money sitting around, you can add real diamonds to your ring for that extra added “Bling”.  The ring will be more customizable depending upon how far you progress in the game.  The further you go the more flamboyant and obnoxious you can potentially be.  You can read more at EA Sports and Joystiq.

Wii-Fit Parody

Posted in Uncategorized by Mo on the July 17th, 2007

Okay, so this is just damn funny.  Courtesy of Sarcastic Gamer comes the Wii-Fit Parody.  It was bound to happen.  With the introduction of Wii-Fit, it seems like a good idea, but it also seems a bit odd.  But of course it is Nintendo and they do like innovating things, I just hope they don’t innovate themselves into Sega territory.  Hit the jump to see the video. PS3 Losing a System- Along With a Couple of Consumers

Posted in Playstation 3 News, Editorial by Mo on the July 13th, 2007

Alright, so now Sony is irritating me.  ME, the one that has been trying to defend them against all nay-sayers and what nots.  In case you are wondering what I am talking about, it’s simple.  Sony didn’t drop the price in the US due to then wanting to make nice with the market and offer a more affordable system.  They did it because they are no longer producing the 60GB PS3.  Once the 60’s have been sold, they won’t be replenished.  You will only have the option to pick up the new 80GB for $599.  Plus side, you get a bigger hard drive and Motorstorm.  But wait, there’s more.

Europe will the getting the 60GB PS3 starter pack with an extra controller and two games, Resistance and Motorstorm.  What?  You drop us and give them more?  What?

And what is even worse is the contradicting news from Sony.  My brain hurts and I am sick of this.  Joystiq is reporting Yes and No about the 60GB being dropped in the US.  But on top of that, is a recorded (don’t forget that part, recorded) (i.e. video in case you missed it) of Sony president Kaz Hirai confirming the 60GB is indeed no longer in production.  I found this courtesy of GamesAreFun and VG TV.

Do your divisions just not talk at Sony or what?  Ok, I am just to the point where I am sick of even writing about this.  Sony, make up your mind.  You are definitely losing a huge consumer base now.  I was all geared up to get a new PSP, now I am close to getting rid of the one that I have now.

Sony US says it will be supported, but Sony Europe says it won’t.  And the Kaz Hirai says “What’s a PSP?”  I’m through.

XBox Live Arcade News Galore

Posted in XBox 360 News, Game News by Dave on the July 12th, 2007

Surprisingly, there has been quite a bit of news coming out of E3 this week.  I know a lot of people expected that since E3 scaled back, there wouldn’t be much happening.  I think it’s been true in terms of the smaller companies coming, but the big boys seem to be breaking out the big guns.  This article is about all the goodies coming to the XBox Live Arcade and one notable steaming turd.

Mo Looks at the Nintendo E3 News

Posted in Editorial, Game News by Mo on the July 11th, 2007

So Dave has asked me to write an article about Nintendo at E3 so far.  Why, you may ask?  Because I am pretty close to getting rid of my Wii due to the lack of compelling games and also the game play of a good bit of them that I have tried.  So I was very excited about what Nintendo was going to reveal at E3. (Glimmer of hope).   Read on after the jump.
