GameStop Feels the Need to Re”Tool” Their Image?

Posted in Uncategorized by Mike on the August 27th, 2007

Joystiq this morning posted an article about GameStop upping their pre-order deposit amount to $10 rather than the industry standard $5. This is to apparantly encourage people to pick up their pre-orders (and to discourage them from doing pre-orders.) But that was not the only tidbit in the article.

Apparently, the “WalMart of Video Game Retail” feels the need to improve it’s image. We can all agree that would be in it’s best interest. And while their at it, maybe they could hire some people who know games as half of them don’t. Joystiq claims to have “sources” that overheard GameStop execs at a meeting iin Las Vegas discussing overhauling the entire chains image. The new slogan being discussed? Power to the Gamer. Sure, power, but not reasonable trade value or used prices.
