Flamehead Friday Pregame: Uno
So I was chatting with some of the good geeps over at the GeekLabel Forums and Uno came up several times. I decided that I’ll be playin some Uno tonight starting at about 8:30-9:00pm and playing until everyone shows up for Battlefield. As before, PM me and I’ll invite you to our game or get you into another one.
Reverse THIS!
Oh My Goodness…
It’s really kind of hard to even say anything about this video, it pretty much speaks for itself. All I can say is watch and enjoy the yuletide fun.
Flamehead Friday: Battlefield 2 On XBox 360
So that’s the name I’ve come up with for our weekly gaming night. Not only did the old name suck, but it was pretty much exlusionary to everyone who doesn’t have a 360. I think Mo and Boots will be running some PS3 nights at some point if there is enough interest.
But enough about that! This week, we’re going to be getting as many people together as we can to play EA’s Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on XBox Live. Last week’s round of Call of Duty 4 was fun, but it made me miss the fact that you can change your class every time you die in B2:MC. Personally, I roll sniper, but I can break out the assault troop when necessary.
The games probably won’t get into full swing until about 10:30pm MST, but I should be on by about 9:00pm MST if anyone wants to warm up a bit.
As always, just PM one of us on Live if you want to play and we’ll invite you in. With the amount of people you can have in this game, I doubt multiple sessions will be necessary. All of our Gamertags can be found at the About page (my tag is Dexter Douglas). We’re all looking forward to tonight!
Fire Up the REM: Duke Nukem Forever Trailer To Debut Tomorrow
It’s been a long held belief amongst gamers that the final sign of the apolcolypse would be the release of eternally delayed Duke Nukem Forever. Apparently, it is truly the end of the world as we know it because Kotaku is reporting that a teaser trailer for this game is actually going online tomorrow. Personally? I don’t particularly feel fine about this.
Seriously, playing Duke Nukem is a joke these days, and I have serious doubts about 3D Realms being able to update the character and the game so it’s actually relevant. What made Duke cool in the first place was his cool one liners. Well, now EVERYBODY has seen Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Bruce Campbell has become a cult star. The jig’s up on this series, so they’re going to have to come up with new tricks. It will be interesting to see if 3D Realms can pull this one off.
GCR Presents: Friday Night (Xbox) Live!
Ok, I apologize for that absolutely awful joke. It is, however a chance for everyone to have some fun. We’re always talking about how we play online every Friday night on XBox Live. We generally play Gears of War, but we’re mixing things up a bit and I decided invite teh inarweb to join us!
I’ll be doing my best to announce what game we’re playing every week. If you want to join us for some carnage and fun, just PM me on XBox Live (gamertag Dexter Douglas) and we’ll get you into the game. If it’s a game with a more limited number of people who can be involved (like Gears of War), one of us will jump out of our current game and start a new one. Generally, I’m on by about 9:00pm Mountain time and I’m down for some warm-up rounds or playing something else. Everyone else is generally on by 10:30pm MST.
Some of us will be going out tonight, so we probably won’t be online until about 10:00 or 10:30pm Moutain time. Tonight’s game will be Call of Duty 4, so we should have plenty of room. Just shoot me a PM and we’ll get you in on the fun!
Next week’s game is looking like Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.
Orange Box 360 Vs. PS3 Video
I’ve said in the past that I’ve read reports of the PS3 version being at best difficult and annoying and unplayable at its worst. Well, Kotaku has posted a video that they found at Game Videos that actually does side-by-side comparisons of the game between both consoles.
From the looks of that video, I can’t go with those who say it’s unplayable. I will say that the PS3 version is noticeably more jerky in spots. If you’re a PS3 owner and don’t have a 360 as well, I still think you should pick this up because its phenomenal in every way, but you definitely have my sympathy as Valve should have had better quality control for this release. It deserves to look better than that.
New RSS Feed Up and Running
I just wanted everyone to know that we finally have an RSS feed up and running. It looks a lot better than the old crappy one, too. I’m in the midst of having the feed put into iTunes. If you use the Zune store, iTunes or another rss service that requires you to search for the title, put in “GameCrazy Radio” without a space between Game and Crazy. If you can just put the feed into your podcatcher, the feed is located at http://feeds.feedburner.com/GCR. Most importantly, I put in our mascot (who we have named Flame Dude) into the feed as well.
GCR Episode 17
What’s this? Another episode a mere three days after the last one posted? Yup, we’re getting back in the groove. This time, we start with serving up some glorious Wii satire from the good folks at Sarcastic Gamer. We also start the Game Of the Year debate and have a good time in general.
Oh, and support Child’s Play. They’re REALLY cool.
Nintendo To Pull Wii Advertising, Avoid Comaprison To The Grinch
Usually when it comes to the gaming community, all you hear about it the latest holiday marketing blitz. It seems that Nintendo, never afraid to march to the beat of their own drum, is taking a different approach. Joystiq is reporting (via Times Online) that Nintendo has decided to delay their marketing for the Wii until 2008 because nobody can get ahold of one.
Nintendo is trying to spin this as an attempt to “act responsibly”, but it’s more likely that they realize that the shortages (which I do believe to be completely legit) are creating more press than an ad campaign ever could, so they’re going to save their money until it will actually be useful. I don’t blame them for playing it as an act of good will, because that gives them even more press, and to top it off, it’s GOOD press.
All I know is that parents are probably thanking Nintendo for pulling the ads for now because it might slow down the rampaging American child’s need for a Wii. Ok, even I don’t believe that, but it might cut down on the 60-70 calls we get a day asking if we got any in.
GCR Episode 16
Yup, it’s actually for this week. I might even have next week’s up earlier, but let’s just take this one step at a time.
