Nintendo To Pull Wii Advertising, Avoid Comaprison To The Grinch

Posted in Nintendo Wii News by Dave on the December 7th, 2007

Usually when it comes to the gaming community, all you hear about it the latest holiday marketing blitz.  It seems that Nintendo, never afraid to march to the beat of their own drum, is taking a different approach.  Joystiq is reporting (via Times Online) that Nintendo has decided to delay their marketing for the Wii until 2008 because nobody can get ahold of one.

Nintendo is trying to spin this as an attempt to “act responsibly”, but it’s more likely that they realize that the shortages (which I do believe to be completely legit) are creating more press than an ad campaign ever could, so they’re going to save their money until it will actually be useful.  I don’t blame them for playing it as an act of good will, because that gives them even more press, and to top it off, it’s GOOD press.

All I know is that parents are probably thanking Nintendo for pulling the ads for now because it might slow down the rampaging American child’s need for a Wii.  Ok, even I don’t believe that, but it might cut down on the 60-70 calls we get a day asking if we got any in.

Apparently the Wii is less the 2 Gamecubes duct tapped together

I found a very interesting video on Joystiq comparing Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Sunshine.  Suprisingly (or not), Sunshine looks better.  On top of that, some of the levels look strangely alike, kind of having a Deja Vu feeling going on.  View the video after the jump. (more…)

What in the Hell?

Has there every been a system with more useless junk come out for it?  Well the next pieces of Wiicrap to clutter up your living room are now available.  On Videogame.brando.com.hk, you can pick up some Wii Cooking Mama attachments for your very sad and embarrassed Wiimote.  I have never played the game nor do I ever think I will, but the best picture is the person actually cutting veggies with the knife attachment.

Really, I mean, Really?  I am scared to see what else is yet to come out.  Catch the pics here.

Get your Wii crap, I mean accessories here

So, innovation and the Wii almost go hand in hand right?  But you have to draw the line somewhere.  Along with the other useless attachments you can get for the Wii, ezGear has taken it one step further with “realistic” accessories for WiiSports.  Yes, you can now box, bat, swing, and golf like a pro or something.

You can now purchase from ezGear, Wii Boxing Gloves, Wii Sparing Gloves, and a Wii Sports Pack, all stating a realistic feel.  Sure, about as realistic as taking the skills you learn playing WiiSports into real life.  And how comfortable can it really be to have a WiiMote and Nunchuk clinging to the top of your clinched fist as you jab and swing.

Now only if they would come out with a weighted bowling ball attachment so you would have a real excuse for throwing your WiiMote at your TV.  You can only dream I guess.

Thanks to Joystiq for bringing life to this useless waste of space, time, and money.

For all of those Old School RPG fans (Mike) and especially those fans of Shining Force (once again, Mike), this is for you.  I guess it would also help if you owned a Wii, something I might want to mention, but now available for the VC for the Wii is Shining Force, Kirby’s Dream Course, and Devil’s Crush.  Both Shining Force and Kirby will be 800 points and Devil’s Crush will be 600 and these games were released Monday, July 23rd.  You can view the entire list of VC games here.
